Start with a 3–2–1 clothing formula

Pack three tops, two bottoms, and one layer in a shared colour family. Wear the bulkiest bottom and the layer in transit. Every top should work with both bottoms, and the layer should work over everything.

  • Three tops: two everyday options and one polished option
  • Two bottoms: one worn, one packed
  • One layer that suits the forecast and both daytime and evening plans

Add the true essentials

  • Four pairs of underwear and three pairs of socks
  • Sleepwear
  • One comfortable walking shoe; add a second pair only if the itinerary requires it
  • Travel-size toiletries within the rules for your exact airport and route
  • Medication, identification, payment method, charging cable, and required travel documents
  • An empty reusable bottle and a small foldable tote

Leave speculative packing at home

Skip full-size toiletries, duplicate electronics, and outfits that solve imaginary problems. Check the accommodation listing before packing a hair dryer, steamer, robe, or towel. A small amount of empty space is more useful than a fourth backup outfit.

Do a final five-minute check

  • Verify the current baggage dimensions and weight for your exact airline and fare
  • Check the destination forecast again
  • Confirm passport, visa, medication, insurance, and entry requirements from official sources
  • Move irreplaceable items and medication into the personal item
  • Photograph essential documents and store the copies securely
