Capsule wardrobe

Seven useful outfits from one personal item

The goal is not seven separate outfits. It is a small set of pieces that can move between travel, sightseeing, dinner, and a weather change.

Choose one visual anchor

Pick either a colour, a silhouette, or a standout accessory to make the capsule feel intentional. A dark trouser, a light knit, and one accent colour are easier to recombine than seven unrelated looks.

Use the 4–2–1 base

  • Four tops: two simple, one textured, one dressier
  • Two bottoms with different silhouettes
  • One optional dress or matching set that can stand alone
  • One layer that works open, closed, and over the dress or set

Build seven combinations before packing

Lay every piece on the bed and photograph seven combinations. Change shoes, earrings, a belt, or the way the layer is worn before adding another garment. If a piece works in only one photograph, replace it with something more flexible.

Keep the personal item functional

  • Wear the largest shoes and outer layer
  • Roll soft pieces; fold structured pieces
  • Keep one change of underwear and a clean top accessible
  • Use a slim pouch for jewellery and small accessories
  • Leave enough room for a water bottle and travel documents
